Analógica Analogue
def. Something that bears an analogy to something else. A photograph records the image of something, while an analog computer (also analogue computer) represents numerical data with measurable physical variables, such as electrical signals.
Bateria Battery
def. An energy storage device composed of one or more electrolyte cells.
Cartão de memória Memory card
def. A removable module used for storing images in digital cameras.
CMYK CMYK
def. Cyan Magenta Yellow blacK. A system for reproduction color in print — "four-color printing," creating the color spectrum using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.
Digital Digital
def. A photographic method that stores the image digitally for later reproduction.
Filtro Filter
def. Filters are used to separate or refine some particles, liquids, gases, or light. Most light filters, such as might be used in photography or in light projection are tinted, but some are polarizing. Acting like seives, some filters are screens, or act like them.
Gifs Gifs
def. (Graphics Interchange Format). A popular bitmapped graphics file format developed by CompuServe. Pronounced "giff" with a hard "g" by most Mac users and "jiff" by PC users, GIFs are widely used on the Web because the format uses its own form of compression.
Jpeg Jpeg
def. Joint Photographic Experts Group, a graphical format that is widely used in WWW pages. It is particularly well suited to photographs and 3D or VRML images where there is a continuous range of colors or shades. It is a lossy format that can be reduced in file size by reducing the detail in the image. JPEG files use a .jpg or less commonly, .jpeg or .jpe extension.
Objectiva Lens
def. An optical device used by a camera to focus an image on to film stock.
Papel Brilho Glossy paper
def. Glossy photo quality paper is designed to make printed photos look sharp, vibrant and more like a traditional photograph. Handling of glossy paper is important as the paper can quickly and easily be marred by fingerprints and dirt. Glossy photo paper comes in several varieties including a specialty color protect or color life paper, semi-gloss and premium (professional) grade.
Papel Mate Matte paper
def. Unlike glossy paper, matte paper produces nice quality prints but does not have that vibrant color finish. Matte paper is not vulnerable to being marred by fingerprints and it produces a non-glare photo. Types of matte inkjet paper include photo quality matte, premium (professional) grade, double-sided matte, and semi-matte.
Photoshop Photoshop
def. A sophisticated software program, produced by Adobe Systems, for altering and processing digital photographs and other digital images.
PNG PNG
def. Stands for "Portable Network Graphic." This format was designed as an alternative to the GIF format (which has been plagued by copyright issues). Like GIFs, PNG files are lossless, meaning they don't lose any detail when they are compressed. They support up to 48-bit color or 16-bit grayscale and typically compress about 5% to 25% better than GIF files.
RGB RGB
def. Red green blue. An additive system for representing the color spectrum using combinations of red, green and blue. Used in theatrical lighting and in video display devices.
Sensibilidade Sensitivity
def. The degree to which something may be affected by something else, as rods and cones on the eye's retina and photo-reactive components of photography are affected by light. In the latter case this may refer to the degree of response of a photographic plate, film or paper to light, especially to light of a specified wavelength.
