Árbitro – (Controla a conduta dos jogadores e dos oficiais de equipa desde o momento em que eles entram no recinto de jogo até que o abandonam.) Referee (Responsible for keeping score and recording all warnings, suspensions, disqualifications and exclusions.)

Área de baliza – (Área onde somente o guarda redes pode permanecer. O adversário que entra nessa área é punido com um remate livre.) Goal perimeter (Area delimited by two quarter circles with a radius of six meters around the far corners of each goal post and a connecting line parallel to the goal line.)

Bola de jogo – (Esférica com medidas diferentes para os vários escalões étarios, por exemplo, no escalão sénior tem 58 a 60 cm, pode também ter varias cores.) Ball (Spherical and must either be made of leather or a synthetic material. It is not allowed to have a shiny or slippery surface. As it is intended to be operated by a single hand, the official sizes vary depending on age and gender of the participating teams.)

Canto – (Acção atacante que resulta quando o remate é desviado por um jogador de campo na defesa e a bola vai pela linha do fundo .Neste caso, a equipa atacante recomeça o jogo com o lançamento de campo e o pé deve ser colocado no vértice do campo. Se for o guarda-redes que desvia a bola do remate do contrário não existe canto e a posse da bola pertence á equipa que defende.) Corner throw (Game situation that occurs when the ball is played over his/her own goal line by a defending player (except the goal keeper), on either side of the goal. The game is restarted by means of a throw from the corner and throw the ball in, using either hand.)

Drible – (Manobra de engano pela qual o atacante tenta superar o seu adversário mediante o controle da bola.) Dribble (The skill of bouncing the ball and moving forward. This is
similar to dribbling in basketball, except that a player may take three
steps when the ball is seized. After dribbling a player is allowed 3 steps
and 3 seconds to throw or shot the ball.)

Duração do jogo – (A duração normal da partida. Dois tempos de 30 minutos com 10 minutos de intervalo.) Game's duration (The playing time of the game. Should be 20 minutes. There should be two equal halves a minimum of 10 minutes each with a five-minute interval between halves. Teams switch goals after halftime.)

Espaço de jogo – (Campo rectangular com as medidas de 40x20(ou dois quadrados 20x20) com áreas limitadas do guarda redes, duas balizas (3x2) tendo duas zonas de ataque contra defesa e uma zona de transição entre estas duas zonas.) Playing field (Handball is played on a court 40 by 20 metres (130 × 66 ft), with a goal in the center of each end. The goals are surrounded by a near-semicircular area, called the zone or the crease, defined by a line six meters from the goal. A dashed near-semicircular line nine meters from the goal marks the free-throw line. Each line on the court is part of the area it encompasses. Expulsão – (Desqualificação directa de um jogador por uma acção anti-desportiva.) Disqualification (A player shall be excluded from the game when he/she commits an assault on an opponent or referee while on the court.)

Guarda-redes – (Único que se pode mover com a bola dentro da área de baliza, sem ser sujeito
às restrições que se aplicam aos jogadores de campo.
Todos os jogadores utilizados como guarda-redes de uma equipa têm que usar a mesma
cor, que deve distinguir-se dos jogadores de campo das duas equipas
e dos guarda-redes da equipa adversária.) Goalkeeper (Only one that is allowed on or inside the goal area line.
The goalkeepers of each team must wear distinctive colors, different from the court players of both teams and the opposing goalkeeper.)

Lançamento da linha lateral – (Sempre que a bola ultrapassa as linhas laterais tendo sido tocada em último lugar por um defesa é reposta em jogo por um jogador da equipa adversária (no local de saída).) Throw-in (Awarded when ball goes out of bounds on the sideline or when the ball is last touched by a defensive player (excluding the goalie) and goes out of bounds over the end-line. The throw-in is taken from the spot where the ball crossed the sideline, or if it crossed the end-line, from the nearest corner.)

Lançamento de baliza – (O lançamento de baliza é executado pelo guarda-redes, dentro da sua área, sempre que a bola ultrapassa a linha de saída de baliza, quando tocada em último lugar por um atacante ou pelo próprio guarda-redes.) Goal-throw (Awarded when the ball rebounds off the goalkeeper over the end-line or the ball is thrown over the end-line by the attacking team.)

Lançamento de saída – (No começo do jogo, o lançamento de saída é executado pela equipa que vencer o sorteio (lançamento de moeda) e decidir iniciar o jogo com a bola na sua posse.) Throw-off (Taken by the team that wins the coin toss and chooses to start the game with the ball.)

Lançamento livre – (É ordenado um lançamento livre nos seguintes casos: entrada ou saída irregular de um jogador, mau comportamento, faltas cometidas pelos jogadores, execução ou conduta irregular na execução dos lançamentos.) Free throw (For a minor foul or violation, a free-throw is awarded to the opponent at the exact spot it took place.)

Linha de lançamento livre – (Linha tracejada, desenhada a 3 metros da parte exterior da linha de área
de baliza.) Free-throw line (The broken line 9-meter from the goal line is the free-throw line.)

Passivo – (Falta regulamentar na qual a equipa em funções ofensivas não mostra interesse pela finalização do ataque e se limita a realizar circulação da bola sem tentar acções decisivas, os árbitros podem decretar passivo depois de um tempo previamente decidido por eles. Esta decisão leva a perda da posse de bola.) Passive Play (Foul that occurs when a team keeps the ball without making a recognizable attempt to attack and to try to score. In other words, a team cannot stall (free-throw awarded to the other team).)

Penalti – (Pena máxima que se decreta quando o defensor interrompe ilegalmente uma acção manifesta de golo ou quando o defensor defende uma acção enquanto dentro da zona de seis metros.) Penalty throw (A shot attempted by any offensive player when an offensive player is prevented from making a clear goal-scoring chance by a foul. The player attempting the penalty throw is required to make a direct attempt to score a goal from the penalty-throw line.)

Remate em apoio no pé contrário – (Lançamento em apoio no pé(fraco) do ao braço de remate.) Set Shot (A simple throw from a standing position. Set shots are also used for all penalty shots.)

Remate em suspensão – (Remate técnico com o corpo em suspensão com o objectivo de passar o bloco defensivo ou como meio de aproximar da baliza no ataque rápido, não podendo violar a área do Guarda-redes.) Dive shot (A means of trying to score a goal by lauching the entire body into air toward the goal in an attempt to gain more distance.)

Terreno de jogo – (O terreno de jogo consiste num rectângulo que mede 40x20 metros.) Playing field (Court with 40 meters long and 20 meters wide, with a dividing line in
the middle and a goal in the center of either end.)
